Welcome

Photobucket

As a child, I always wanted to be a girl scout, but that never seemed to be in my parent's plan.  I was in the 3rd grade and I envied the other girls in their little brownie uniforms.  Well, I can now say that I am a "girl scout".... as a Daisy Girl Scout Leader.  During the recruitment period at the beginning of this school year, I signed up to receive more information.  At the parent interest meeting, there was a huge turnout; however, there wasn't anybody else there from my daughter's school and no leader volunteer for a daisy troop.  Since I am a person who never says "no", I am now one of the newest volunteers for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia in Houston County.

We have had approximately 3 meetings so far, and I have to say that I am hanging in there.  I jumped in immediately and signed us up to sell the Fall Product Line, without even knowing how many girls would be in registered in our troop.  I have to say that I am very pleased with my Daisies, they sold a total of 117 products in the amount of $674.  Not to toot my daughter's horn, but I am so very pleased with her.  She approached faculty and staff at her school by herself, sharing with each one the product that she thought was best and that they would like.  Only 1 person turned her down, with a promise of buying cookies in January.  She showed remarkable salesmanship without any coaching, and I am so very proud of her.  I can only hope that I can instill the same leadership qualities in all the girls.  As for me, I had no idea what I was doing during the Fall Product Sale.  Now that it is all over with, I think I know what I'm doing now, and I am ready for Cookie Sales in January.

I wasn't so thrilled about the idea of being a troop leader at first, and everybody kept saying "you are going to love it".  I have to admit, I think I'm "going to love it".

We are Daisy Scouts!
